Huron Band Camp Award Descriptions
The Oliver Award – This award is presented by the director on an “as-needed” basis to the most deserving individual. The oldest award presented at Huron High School, the Oliver Award is a prestigious yet infamous award to garner.
Outstanding Cabin Leader - This award is presented to the individual whom the staff believes has been an exemplary leader in the cabin during Band Camp.
The Spirit Award – The Huron Spirit Stick – This award is presented to the individual whom the staff believes is the most “spirited” camper at Band Camp.
Best Squad - This award is presented to the squad whom the staff believes has put forth the most spirit, desire, and effort during Band Camp.
Outstanding New Marcher - This award is presented to the individual whom the staff believes has exemplified the greatest improvement of marching technique of a new marcher during Band Camp.
Most Improved Marcher - This award is presented to the individual whom the staff believes has exemplified the greatest improvement of marching technique during Band Camp or since the previous Band Camp.
Outstanding Squad Leader - This award is presented to the individual whom the staff believes has put forth the most effort to maintain an excellent squad during Band Camp. He or she must “lead by example.”
Best Marcher – This award is presented to the individuals whom the camp staff believes has exemplified the best marching technique during Band Camp.
Outstanding Camper (Senior, Junior, Sophomore, and Freshman) – This award is presented to the individuals whom the staff believes has put forth the most effort, desire, passion, and spirit for the Band during Band Camp.
Outstanding Musician - This award is presented to the individuals whom the camp staff believes is the most outstanding musician during Band Camp.
Above and Beyond the Call of Duty - This award is presented to a senior member of the Huron Bands whom the camp staff believes exemplifies the spirit of service both on and off the concert stage and marching field.
The “Proof Is In The Pudding” Award - This award is presented to a senior member of the Huron Bands whom the camp staff believes exemplifies the spirit of integrity both on and off the concert stage and marching field.
